Tuck into Welsh crab, plucked fresh from our shores, with Welsh Coastal Life's tasty recipes that perfectly showcase this seasonal treat
Available now until November, Welsh crab, an affordable delicacy, can be bought all over coastal Wales at this time of year, from fishmongers, direct from fishermen and, increasingly, via box schemes. Anglesey, the Llyn Peninsula and Pembrokeshire are particular hotspots for these scrumptious crustaceans – which are as much a part of local culture as they are a foodstuff. Most of the crab caught off these shores is edible crab, also called European brown crab because of its rusty red/brown shell. Spider crab is arguably even sweeter, but is less popular simply because of its outlandish arachnid-like appearance.
