A unique house offering plenty of opportunity to enjoy its fine elevated views of the Wye Valley over a glass of wine or a bite to eat

Sitting high above the River Wye, quirky Willow Tree Cottage offers plenty of character and fine views of the valley.

The three-bedroom property is situated on Leys Hill at the edge of the village of Goodrich. The houses here are well spaced out, with this cottage having three quarters of an acre of trees, gardens and panoramic vistas.

One of the most impressive features of the house – and one which makes the most of the views – is the large orangery. Accessed from the outside by a stained glass door, it’s set on two levels, one currently used as a relaxing seating area, and the other as a dining area.

The room has a very bright feel to it, as it’s not only south facing, but has a light tiled floor. There’s also another side door leading out to a patio that’s ideal for al fresco dining.

The kitchen’s spacious with a Rangemaster cooker and plenty of room for a breakfast table. There are windows to the front and side, plus a walk-in pantry.

If you require plenty of storage space, the hallway has two built-in cupboards and two of the bedrooms have built-in wardrobes.

In fact, the en-suite master bedroom has two such wardrobes, plus a picture window overlooking the garden and the valley. The second bedroom, also on the ground floor, has a similarly stunning view.

Upstairs there’s a third bedroom and a sitting room which features wall-to-wall windows, an ornate fireplace and sliding doors that lead onto a balcony. This is another fantastic outdoor space for al fresco diners or those wanting to soak up a bit of sun.

For those planning to work from home, there’s a study accessed from the garden, which provides a good space to work in.

The cottage is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is very handy for walks – the popular Wye Valley Walk runs close to the property, and there are plenty of activities available on the water itself.

And despite the rural area, it’s in a handy location for reaching Ross-on-Wye, which is 15 minutes away, and Monmouth which is slightly further. It’s also within reach of the city of Hereford, which is about 40 minutes away by car.

If you dream of moving to the Wye Valley and you appreciate fine views and plenty of space to relax, then Willow Tree Cottage may be the house for you.
