Head out on a coastal walk to spot springtime’s drifts of beautiful blooms

It's true that much of the appeal of coastal walking is the views, the cliffs and the giant waves crashing against rocks. But spring and summer bring something extra that can add so much to our enjoyment. Something that we often overlook.

Look around at this time of year and you'll see that wildflowers add a whole range of colour, often carpeting heathland floors in a dazzling display. In the spring 2022 issue of Welsh Coastal Life (download for free, here) we take you to two of the very best spots to see them on the Welsh coast. And here are your downloadable Route Guides.

ROUTE 1 -  Enjoy wildflowers and wildlife on this wander from Whitesands Bay to St Davids Head in Pembrokeshire

ROUTE 2 - Climb to the summit of the Great Orme on the north coast to spot rare plants and butterflies
