COUNTRY WALKS

Castle Walks (Part 2)

by Webmaster, 19th March 2019

Completing our two-part special celebrating the region’s historic fortifications, we have three ambles to and from picturesque forts in Monmouthshire, Shropshire and Denbighshire

With so many fortresses built across the Welsh Borders over the centuries – each with its own fascinating history of victory and defeat, glory and gore, prosperity and decline – three walks were never going to do them justice. So this month we have a second instalment of wanders to and from some of the finest in the region.

ROUTE 1 – Wonderful views next to the tidal River Wye in Monmouthshire

ROUTE 2 – A pretty walk through the rolling Shropshire Hills

ROUTE 3 – A short stroll through the pretty market town of Ruthin
