Get a spring in your step on a country estate or two
Well before our trees come into leaf, and often when the chill of winter still lingers, we're lifted by a glorious sight that truly heralds spring: blossom. Undeniably, it brightens our world, and boy could it do with brightening right now. But where best to find it?
Cherries trees are often the first to flower, sometimes as early as February. But we’ll continue to enjoy magnificent displays of blossom on trees and hedges, such as hawthorn and blackthorn, until June.
To help you enjoy the fruits of this wondrous season, we selected two country walks for the Spring 2022 issue of Welsh Border Life (download for free, here) that take in National Trust estates on both sides of the Border. And here are your downloadable Route Guides.
ROUTE 1 - Take a wander through the orchards of Brockhampton estate in Herefordshire
ROUTE 2 - Explore the apple blossoms and flower gardens of Powis Castle in Powys
