Say what you like about the climate here on the Welsh Borders, there’s no doubt that mushrooms and fungi love it! And October is the perfect month to go in search of them.

All three walks in the autumn 2022 issue of Welsh Border Life (download for free, here) take you through good fungi foraging territory, so get out there and get spotting. Here are your downloadable Route Guides.

Route 1 - The variety of habitats on this easy circuit in Monmouthshire means you’re almost certain to spot a variety of fungi en-route

Route 2 - You’ll encounter some of the finest fungi territory in Wales on this enjoyable circuit in the Elan Valley

Route 3 - An easy walk through varied Flintshire terrain that in places offers surprisingly expansive views

NOTE: Wild mushrooms can be extremely poisonous and we strongly recommend only going on organised fungi foraging courses.
