COASTAL WALKS

South Pembrokeshire coast

by Webmaster, 13th September 2019

Explore sea stacks, wild cliffs, beautiful seaside towns and some of the finest beaches in Britain in this superb and diverse stretch of coastline

There are certain pockets of the country for which a couple of days don’t do justice – areas where there are so many places to discover, you need to take your time.

The southern coast of Pembrokeshire is undoubtedly one of these places. It might cover less than 30 miles of seashore, but it’s so rich in awe-inspiring features and natural beauty, with one section contrasting from the next.

To the more populated east are gentle family beaches, ideal for sandcastles and ice cream, while the further west you go, the more exposed the coastline becomes to the mood of the Atlantic Ocean. Subsequently, you have arguably the finest surfing bay in the country (Freshwater West), and several more outstanding beaches (frequently rated among Britain’s best) separated by spectacular rock formations in the wave-battered cliffs.

The three walks this month try to encompass as much of this as possible.

ROUTE 1 – A well-trodden path between two popular beachside resorts, Saundersfoot and Tenby

ROUTE 2 – Wildlife-rich lakes, award-winning beaches and a cliff-side chapel

ROUTE 3 – Sandy bays and rugged cliffs aplenty on Angle Peninsula
