Beat the January Blues Walks

Don’t let the weather put you off – a ramble through the great outdoors is just the thing to lift the spirits, especially when there’s a stunning view or a cosy pub or café to reward you along the way

For all you January naysayers upset that Christmas is over, that the weather’s cold and that ‘Blue Monday’ (the third Monday of this month and allegedly the most miserable day of the year) is on its way, I have one thing to say to you – codswallop!

January’s an amazing month – a new dawn where the days begin to get longer, the birds start to sing and the snowdrops brighten up our woodland floors. Still not convinced? Then try one (or all) of these walks to invigorate the soul and inspire a wonderful year in the great outdoors.

ROUTE 1 – Embrace the new year with a view to savour in Monmouthshire

ROUTE 2 – A castle, canal, deer park and two tempting tea rooms await in Welshpool, Powys

ROUTE 3 – Enjoy pristine Cheshire countryside followed by the cosy Dysart Arms
