Hedgehog found in cat food tin

by Webmaster, 18th December 2018

Shropshire couple cut free the prickly mammal found in their recycling

A couple from south Shropshire got a prickly surprise when putting out their recycling. The pair, from Hopton Castle, discovered a tiny hedgehog (pictured) in an empty cat food tin.

They cut the little creature free and contacted the British Hedgehog Society for advice.

The hedgehog – subsequently named Tinny – was hypothermic and in dire need of food, but is now on the road to recovery.

The society is now urging people to wash their recycling tins thoroughly and then crush them before putting them out, to prevent this sort of thing happening.
