Award-winning education

A message from Wendy Martin, Head of Shropshire's Bedstone College

I am delighted that Bedstone’s doors are open and that we have been able to welcome back students this term to our award-winning school.

Whether adjusting to unexpected change, navigating challenges or achieving successes, learning is a lifelong process and I am proud of the way that Bedstone’s pupils, parents and teachers embraced new ways of working together in partnership throughout the lockdown period.

I am also proud that we continued to deliver outstanding education, development and pastoral care through our interactive learning platform, receiving positive feedback from pupils and parents alike.

As well as continuing to deliver a full timetable, we have also produced a Virtual Open Day, accessible via our school’s website, enabling prospective parents to take a tour of our idyllic, rural campus, and have made available a password-protected Parent Portal for accessing individual reports and tailored information, which strengthens our two-way communication and relationships.

We do believe that it is beyond the classroom that a student’s character is really developed, and there are so many interests that can be pursued, some of which will become lifelong passions. These include activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, drama, mountain biking, photography, country pursuits and falconry.

This commitment to excellence has resulted in the school recently being awarded Corporate Vision’s ‘Best Day & Boarding School – Midlands’ in the 2020 Education & Training Awards, and we have worked to maintain this level by making all necessary arrangements to comply with COVID-19 guidance for this term, including making physical changes to the learning environment as required.

The Boarding Schools Association (BSA), of which Bedstone is a member, has published a COVID-Safe Charter, and we are pleased to confirm that we have adopted the Charter and have worked to ensure safe and robust policies are in place to safeguard our boarders.

Bedstone is a co-educational day and boarding school committed to supporting every pupil to be the best they can be, and our commitment to tailored learning and all-round education is at the forefront of what we provide, at all times.

Our doors are open to new registrations and we invite you to contact us at admissions@bedstone.org or call 01547 530961 for more information on our Open Day programme to secure your child’s place to be part of the Bedstone family.
