Music-loving Welsh Border Life readers are in luck this month, as we have a set of family day tickets to the Shrewsbury Folk Festival – on from 23rd to 26th August – up for grabs.
Headliners include Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre – along with former bandmates Dee Palmer and Clive Bunker – plus Devon-based nautical-themed Exmouth Shanty Men, and multi-national music collective Mankala, who’ll be bringing their distinctive African roots-style sound to the stage. Others to look out for include Kate Rusby (pictured), Eddi Reader, Andy Fairweather Low, along with Amythyst Kiah, and Irish folk-inspired Aine Tyrrell.
As well as live music, highlights of the festival include a dance tent hosting ceilidhs, workshops and dance shows, activities for kids and young adults, plus a craft fair, food village, real ale and cocktail bars, and on-site camping and glamping. What’s more, fringe music performances will be taking place in venues throughout Shrewsbury, plus there’ll be dance displays and a parade through the town centre.
