A message from our friends at Herefordshire's Lucton School...

In a difficult year for all, Lucton School’s A Level students celebrate another year of excellent results and Head of Sixth Form, John Goode, praised his pupils: “I am absolutely delighted. Our pupils have worked so hard and can now look forward confidently to continuing in their chosen fields of study. Some have had grades reduced through standardisation, though even so, nearly 40% of results are A* and A grades.”

With relatively small cohorts, Lucton’s results tend to be more variable than larger schools, so this year’s particularly able group will have been disadvantaged by the standardisation process. There will no doubt be some justifiable appeals to come, though even as they stand today, the overall statistics are very impressive with nearly 40-percent A* to A grades and nearly 80-percent A* to C.

A significant number of students achieved top A* and A grades with Jack Zhou achieving A*A*AB plus a distinction in Advanced Extended Maths and the following four pupils all achieved A*AA: Elsie Cowan (Medicine at Liverpool), Taylor Mogford (Gap year, before Veterinary Science), Daisy Rogers (Psychology, Birmingham) and Oliver Thompson (Physics at Birmingham). With over 60% at A* to B grades – this represents excellent results from a mixed-ability cohort!

Lucton Sixth Form has nearly 50 day and boarding pupils and Headmistress, Gill Thorne, credits Lucton’s ability to ensure students reach the best university possible, to the fact that the school is able to personalise programmes of study and tuition, tailoring these to individual students.

Coupled with outstanding teaching, Lucton provides a fantastic Sixth Form education and environment and it is ideal preparation for the demands of university life.

Lucton’s Senior School and Sixth Form are hosting a socially-distanced Open Evening on Thursday 24th September. For more information call 01568 782000 or email admissions@luctonschool.org
