A picturesque Snowdonia campsite has been voted one of the top 10 in the UK
Camping and caravanning is becoming ever-more popular, thanks to the new normal we're now living in. And we are lucky here in Wales and the Borders to have some of the best locations in which to pitch up in the UK.
New research from motorhome rental company, Camptoo, has revealed the top 10 campsites in Britain based on average climate conditions (annual sun hours and rainfall), together with the number of nearby hiking routes, the quality of air in the area and nearby landmarks to visit.
And amid tough competition from camping hotspots in the likes of Norfolk, the New Forest, the Lake District, the Peak District and the Cairngorms, Tyn Cornel in Snowdonia has made it into the list.
Four miles from Bala, nestled on the banks of the River Tryweryn in the foothills of the Arenig Mountains, Tyn Cornel was voted for its picturesque setting, proximity of walking trails and activities, such as kayaking and whitewater rafting, as well as a high standard of facilities. The site provides hardstanding for caravans and motorhomes and electric hook-up for family tents. And for those who like low-hassle breaks, there are two luxury glamping tents and two Riverside Pods.
“This was a really interesting piece of research to be involved with and it gave us some very unexpected results,” says Ed Bassett of Camptoo. “We knew national parks would dominate the list, but had no idea just how much, with an impressive seven campsites making the list from parks all across the UK.
“Ultimately, the competition is fierce as we have an amazing choice of campsites throughout the country and are spoilt for choice.”
