As Lake Vyrnwy Hotel prepares to reopen, treat yourself to a perfect spring escape
Hotels will be allowed to open in Wales from the 12th April, but guests will have to dine in their rooms, as restaurants are not allowed to open yet under Covid rules.
This may be a problem if you’re in a motel by the A5 expressway, but if you’re lucky enough to secure a room at the four-star Lake Vyrnwy Hotel, you’ll never want to leave.
The spacious, superior lake-view bedrooms, some of which have four-poster beds and balconies, have modern interiors and fantastic views over the lake and valley. Whereas if you prefer a more period style, the classic lake view rooms are located in the original Victorian part of the hotel, which was built in 1890.
If you’re keeping an eye on budget, the classic garden view rooms are great value. All the rooms have en-suite facilities, bathrobes, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, luxury toiletries and televisions.
Best of all, the 11-mile scenic route around the lake itself is available to all for free, and just a few minutes' walk down the hill from the incredible vantage point the hotel commands. And if you're a bird watcher, you're in for a treat, as Lake Vyrnwy is also an RSPB reserve.
The hotel opens from the 13th April on a room service only basis so breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks can be ordered and delivered straight to your room. A classic garden room in May costs £144, a classic lake view room is £184 and a superior lake view room is £204. All rates include breakfast. For more information or to book visit www.lakevyrnwy.com
