In this coronation year, why not book into a hotel with a royal connection?

Plas Dinas, a Grade-II listed mansion turned luxury hotel, dates back to the mid-Seventeenth Century and boasts strong links to our current royal family, most notably Princess Margaret.

For nearly 300 years the house was the family home of the Armstrong-Joneses. And it was Antony Armstrong-Jones (latterly Lord Snowdon) who became famous for marrying the late Queen’s sister in 1961.

Two years later, the famed photographer was appointed to the post of Constable of Caernarfon Castle and was largely responsible for organising Prince Charles’ investiture ceremony.

According to locals, Princess Margaret loved this part of Wales, regularly spending weekends at Plas Dinas. And we can see why. Still retaining its historical charm the hotel houses many family portraits, memorabilia and original furniture.

But it’s not just the royal link and fascinating history that makes Plas Dinas such a great place to stay. As well as 10 individually styled bedrooms and suites, each with luxury en-suite facilities and Molton Brown toiletries, the property has 15 stunning acres of grounds to explore, and from which to enjoy fabulous views.

Cuisine-wise, the Gunroom restaurant - which entered the Michelin Guide in 2022 - features a monthly changing evening menu of fresh, seasonal Welsh produce. It’s also become famous for its delicious afternoon teas.

And as if all that wasn’t enough, nestled between the mountains of Snowdonia and the Irish Sea, Plas Dinas is the perfect location from which to explore everything North Wales has to offer.

The hotel is currently promoting an offer for a two-night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast, for selected dates, from £520 per room. For more information visit: www.plasdinas.co.uk
