Festive farm shopping

Christmas and New Year shopping? It can still be a thing. And by supporting independent farm shop, Battlefield 1403, you’ll be rewarded with a relaxing day out

Let’s face it, we are all craving a change of scenery after such a crazy and stressful year. And even though Shropshire has been placed into tier two, you can still head out and enjoy a day out with your immediate household.

So what better place than Battlefield 1403 just north of Shrewsbury, which not only has a large butchery counter for your free range turkey and Boxing day ham, but its very own Christmas gift shop for all those last minute presents.

It’s also a great place for kids too, as there’s a small museum exhibiting one of the bloodiest battles fought on British soil over 600 years ago and some great way-marked walks to enjoy around the ancient battlefield site.

You can then enjoy a lazy late breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea in Sparrow’s cafe, which has now reopened every day under Covid guidelines.

For a real treat, call in for an indulgent home-cooked Sunday lunch and if you prefer to stay home, the cafe is also offering a delivery service within a five mile radius on Sundays between 12pm and 2pm. One course is £10.50 or two courses for £12.95. Call 07395 949 906 to place your order by 5pm on Fridays.
