Step back into simpler times at this year's Shrewsbury Steam Rally

If you love heritage farming and historic machinery, head to Onslow Park, Shrewsbury this August bank holiday weekend for the annual Steam Rally.

One of the highlights this summer is the Challenger Tractor Pulling Club demonstration which shows off vintage tractors in all their working glory.

“If you haven't seen us before you are in for the thrilling and entertaining experience of vintage tractors with a twist," says Kate Seabridge, a member of the County of Salop Steam Engine Society and event organiser. "They have been modified to attempt to pull a starting weight of a 14 tonne sledge and the further they go along the track, the weight gets heavier... so plenty of power, smoke and fun for all the family!”

The Working Field will also see demonstrations of some wonderful original farming skills and techniques. Visitors can take a nostalgic look at the farming of 'days gone by' and see an exciting mix of impressive working machines and shire horses that capture the history and heritage of farming. There will also be ploughing displays and the showground will be home to a display of around 200 static tractors.

The show runs from the 28th to the 29th August and full information and tickets are available online from www.shrewsburysteamrally.co.uk
