Head to the Courtyard Theatre, Hereford, this summer for a joyful live performance of the hit musical, Kinky Boots

Sitting in a comfortable auditorium being entertained by a talented team of actors seems like a distance memory now, but thankfully live performances should make a welcome return this summer.

And if we stick to the current Covid roadmap, uplifting musical Kinky Boots, with original songs by pop legend Cyndi Lauper, will be staged at The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford this August.

Based on a true story, the high-heeled hit will transport audiences from the factory floor to the catwalks of Milan in a feel-good and heart-warming tale of friendship, joy and laughter.

Kinky Boots begins when the main character Charlie Price reluctantly inherits his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be, and as they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair find they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to get back onto The Courtyard stage again,” says director Steve Liddle. “By the time we perform, it will have been nearly two years since our last show, so we're itching to bring the musical magic back to Hereford audiences.

“As this production is initially being sold at socially distanced capacity, there should be absolutely no reason for it not to go ahead, which is incredibly exciting. We are so thankful to The Courtyard for supporting us to make this all happen after what has been a very difficult 12 months for the industry and theatre fans.”

Tickets for Kinky Boots are £22 (concessions £20) and will be held in The Courtyard’s Main House from Tuesday 17th to Saturday 21st August at 7.30pm (plus a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 21st). To book tickets, or for more information, visit
