Immerse yourself in literature at a Shrewsbury book sale
If you still love the feel of paperback and hardback books, go along to Abbey Station in Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury and you may just find a gem. Shrewsbury Railway Heritage Trust is hosting a fundraising book sale and open day on Sunday 19th September between 10am and 4pm, with free admission. A large quantity of books will be on sale for just £1.00 per book, while paperbacks are 50p.
You’ll find a variety of topics, including cookery, transport, stately homes, pets and wine. And of course, there are also books on trains and railways, as well as works of fiction.
The event is to raise funds for the future development plans of Abbey Station.
“We’ve received many books all generously donated by local residents, and supporters,” says Frank Sarre, Director of SRHT. “We still welcome donations of all kinds of books and we will also be selling our new 2022 calendar which is full of fabulous full-colour images by local photographers of steam locomotives in Shropshire and a page featuring the Shropshire and Montgomeryshire Railway.
“The occasion will also be an open day where members of the public can find out all about Abbey Station, the Potts Line, Shropshire and Montgomeryshire Railway, and indeed local railway heritage. Visitors may purchase membership of the Trust for themselves or for a friend.”
